Volume Button Scroll ("we", "our", or "us"), provided by Blobatic, provides hands-free screen navigation by converting hardware volume button presses into scrolling gestures. This Privacy Policy details our data practices and describes how information is handled when you use the Volume Button Scroll Android application.
1. Accessibility Service API Usage
Volume Button Scroll requires the Android AccessibilityService API to deliver its core functionality. We adhere strictly to Google Play's Accessibility Services policy:
Purpose: The Accessibility Service is used solely to intercept physical volume key presses (Volume Up and Volume Down) and convert them into simulated scroll gestures (swipe actions) on your screen.
No Screen Content Reading: The service has window content retrieval disabled (canRetrieveWindowContent="false"). We do not read, capture, inspect, or store any text, passwords, messages, media, or interface elements displayed on your screen.
No Keystroke or Input Logging: We do not log, track, or record any typing, user input, or credentials. Only physical volume key press events are evaluated to trigger scrolling.
No User Activity Monitoring: We do not monitor, log, or track your browsing activity, social media feeds, or interactions inside third-party apps.
User Control & Revocation: The Accessibility Service is entirely optional. It requires explicit user activation after presenting a prominent in-app disclosure, and you can disable it at any time via Android Settings → Accessibility.
2. App Selection & Local Preferences
Selected Apps Filtering: If you choose to limit scrolling to specific apps, the service checks the foreground application package name locally on your device to determine whether scrolling should be active. This information is processed in real time and is never recorded, transmitted, or shared.
Local Configuration Storage: All user preferences—such as scroll speed, travel distance, animation style, button swapping, dark mode, and app whitelists—are stored strictly on your local device via Android SharedPreferences.
No Account Required: Volume Button Scroll does not require account creation, logins, or cloud syncing. We do not maintain any user database on external servers.
3. Third-Party Services & Diagnostics
To ensure application stability and display ads, we integrate trusted third-party SDKs that may collect standard device metrics:
Google Firebase Analytics: Collects non-personally identifiable diagnostic, crash, and app performance logs to help us identify bugs and improve stability (Google Privacy Policy).
Google AdMob & User Messaging Platform (UMP): Displays non-personalized or personalized ads depending on your consent choices. AdMob utilizes standard mobile advertising identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID) in accordance with Google's Advertising Policies.
4. Data Sharing and Sale
We believe in strict privacy and data minimization:
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade any user data.
We do not collect or transmit personal identifiers, contacts, locations, or files from your device.
5. Data Control and Deletion
Revoking Permissions: You can disable the accessibility service anytime under Settings → Accessibility → Volume Button Scroll.
Ad & Consent Choices: You can adjust your ad preferences anytime within the app by navigating to Settings → Ad Choices.
Clearing Data: Because all configurations are stored locally on your device, clearing the app's cache/storage or uninstalling the app permanently deletes all your stored settings.
6. Children's Privacy
Volume Button Scroll is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
